sathi
The Sathi program, which launched in January 2025, provides vital health education and services to the women, children, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community that Sambhali serves. We realized the lack of access to health services created a barrier to maximizing the educational, financial, and mental support we provide through our other programs. The Sathi program, led by a seasoned government nurse, fills this gap by providing vital healthcare services such as health education, basic care, triage, and assistance in navigating the healthcare system. By providing these essential services, Sambhali Sathi strengthens the organization's mission to empower individuals to take control of their lives and well-being.
The name of the program, Sathi, means "companion", which reflects the trusted role of the healthcare staff in providing personal, compassionate care. With decades of experience, Sathi staff members are experts in local healthcare systems and dedicated to helping those in need. The program also works alongside ongoing efforts to enroll Sambhali participants in government benefits and insurance programs.
With the success of its initial outreach and the strong trust already established, the Sathi program is poised to significantly improve the health and wellness of Sambhali's community, completing the organization's comprehensive support system.
