Volunteering at Sambhali Trust

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer!

Volunteering at Sambhali Trust gives you the excellent opportunity to do meaningful and valuable work, empowering underprivileged women and children of Rajasthan.

Anyone can volunteer and make a difference to our Trust, regardless of race, ethnicity, caste, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, economic status, or any other aspect which makes them unique.

Without people like you, we wouldn’t be able to improve the lives of the women and girls in India.

Here are the volunteer opportunities that we offer at Sambhali:

TEACHING AT OUR EMPOWERMENT CENTERS

Most volunteers arriving at Sambhali choose to help with teaching the women and children who come to our empowerment centers in Jodhpur, Setrawa, or Jaisalmer.

Together with the local staff, the volunteers teach basic English and Maths, as well as help organize games or activities that encourage students to use English.

This role also includes assisting with document work, administrative duties, and organizing outside events.

Lessons take place every day from Monday to Saturday, and the working hours are from 10am to 5pm.

PROVIDING ADMIN & Office SUPPORT

Admin volunteer’s tasks may vary and can include PR, Fundraising (including grant writing), writing monthly newsletters and blog posts, and updating and/or creating photo and video content for Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).

Sambhali also develops campaigns in Jodhpur on various topics surrounding women’s empowerment (e.g., End violence towards women) at least yearly. Volunteers in this role would help to organize these campaigns.

There is the option of adding a teaching component to this role.

helping survivors of gender-based violence

The Nirbhaya and Aardash projects provide psychological counseling, legal resources, and other services to survivors of gender-based violence, as well as raise awareness on how to recognize sexual abuse and take actions to prevent it.

Volunteers for this project may be involved in a wide range of services including community outreach, workshops, and counseling.

Please note, that for this role interest and/or experience in legal or mental health counseling, advocacy, psychology, or other related areas is desired.

WORKING AT THE SEWING CENTER

Sambhali runs a sewing center where graduates of our sewing training produce items for the Sambhali Boutique and manufacture customized goods for local and foreign brands.

Volunteers can support it as center managers - this role includes ensuring the distribution of orders, looking after Quality Control, and keeping to deadlines. Volunteers who are interested in this role should be staying in Sambhali for at least two months.

Volunteers with a design background can also work as product designers and use their expertise to create new products with the materials available at Sambhali Boutique. There is also studio space and electric sewing machines available to develop ideas.
