Primary Education Centres
Sambhali Trust’s Primary Education Centres provide safe and supportive learning spaces for children from underserved communities in Rajasthan. Many of the children who come to our centres are first-generation learners. Some are enrolled in school but need extra support to keep up with their studies. Others may have missed schooling, dropped out, or require encouragement to return to regular education.
Our centres work alongside formal schools. They do not replace school education. Instead, they help children strengthen the basic skills they need to continue learning with confidence.
At the centres, children receive regular support in Hindi, English, mathematics, reading, writing, general awareness and basic computer learning. The teaching is simple, patient and activity-based. Children learn through books, stories, games, drawing, group work and examples from everyday life. The aim is to make learning less fearful and more joyful.
The Primary Education Centres are especially important for children whose families may not be able to provide learning support at home. Many children live in communities where poverty, migration, gender discrimination, household responsibilities or lack of guidance can affect regular school attendance. Sambhali’s local tutors and staff stay connected with families and encourage children to attend both school and the centre regularly.
Alongside academic learning, children also take part in sessions on health, hygiene, personal safety, good habits, environmental awareness and confidence-building. Sambhali’s child-safety work, including awareness on safe and unsafe touch, helps children understand how to protect themselves and speak to a trusted adult when they need help.
The centres are closely connected with Sambhali’s wider work with women and families. Many children have mothers or sisters who attend Sambhali’s Empowerment Centres. When women are supported, children are also supported. When children learn with confidence, families begin to see education as part of everyday life.
This work is aligned with the spirit of India’s national priorities around foundational literacy and numeracy, inclusive education, local learning support, digital awareness and joyful activity-based learning. It also connects with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Quality Education, Gender Equality, Good Health and Well-being, and Reduced Inequalities.
Through the Primary Education Centres, Sambhali Trust hopes to give every child a caring space to learn, grow, ask questions and continue their education with dignity.
