Sambhali Trust is proud to announce its partnership with the IIFL Foundation to launch the Sakhiyon Ki Baadi project, a value-based education initiative designed to empower young, marginalised girls in one of Rajasthan's most patriarchal regions.

Sambhali Trust has joined hands with Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd to launch a new project to empower women in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Dr. Tripathi was a key petitioner in the landmark 2014 Supreme Court case that legally recognized the 'third gender' in India. She was also the first transgender person to represent the Asia-Pacific region at the United Nations in 2008.

Sambhali Walks is an initiative of the newly launched Sambhali Development Foundation. It was created alongside Sambhali Trust to enhance the organization’s sustainability and self-reliance.

Kanta Bua heads the transgender community in Jodphur. She has campaigned for the government to make government documentation accessible to the transgender community, to raise awareness of their legal rights, and to offer more vocational training and new types of employment. I’m interviewing her on behalf of the Sambhali Trust, who have worked with Kanta Bua for the past 7 years. 

Renu Kanwar first joined Sambhali Trust when she applied for a tutoring role just as Sambhali’s projects in Jaisalmer were being set up. When she went for training in Jodhpur and met the women and girls in the programs there, she realized working with Sambhali was much more than a job.

Women, girls, and their male allies at Sambhali Trust participated in 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign that begins on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women, and runs until December 19th, Human Rights Day.

This is the first step to building confidence: having a community that is supportive and understanding.
